As believers, one of the starter packs of our salvation is the understanding that we are born of God (1 Peter 1:23), which makes us sons of God (Romans 8:14). However, it is more humbling and so many times than not, overwhelming, when we lay hold of the reality of being special to God. It is likening it to God having many children but we are one of his favorites! Imagine being that one person God wants to talk to, take on an adventure, show mysteries, be intimate with, and pour all of his extravagant love upon.

Someone is saying, yes, I am a son of God but let’s not overstretch my place in God’s “family or heart”. The truth is; it is not overstretching, it is your actual reality! Take a look at a clear description of who you are according to 1 Peter 2:9. It says, But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light (ASV). Again, Romans 8:29-30 says, For whom he foreknew, he also foreordained to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren: and whom he foreordained, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Both scriptures expressly gives us bragging rights! Rights of more than just sonship. Rights of being sons who have been chosen before the foundations of the earth was laid. Rights of being God’s own possession who exude excellence and glory! Rights of being God’s personal person! Hallelujah!

As our man of God, Pastor Binuyo Olutomiwa, fondly says, “a knowledge that you have and do not apply is not useful knowledge; you must apply to get results.” Consequently, the knowledge gained will only be transformed into all round excellence and splendor when you apply. You, therefore with fearless confidence, proclaim to the world how special and glorified you are in words and deeds. You build on that special privilege by being conscious, confessing, and “being” the wonderful elect race God has called you.

On a final note, it is indeed a great privilege you can be boastful about everywhere and at all times. God already called you a son, now he is saying, you are my personal person, the one I have chosen to reveal things to (John 15:15-16), the one I have made productive, mighty and full of excellence (Isaiah 60), the one I have loved eternally (Jeremiah 31). And so, amongst the billions of people on earth, you can boldly say I AM GOD’S PERSONAL PERSON.
