The word ‘perpetual’ means never ending, continuous or forever. As believers, we have been called to a life where victory is never ending, a life where nothing binds us with failure, a life of constantly winning. Now, one might be tempted to throw the popular saying “never say never” into this mix. Yet, we can boldly say never to failure! This is because we always win. Indeed, such a great expression of confidence. However, this confidence stems from an understanding. An understanding that a continuous victory is ours when we stay led.

Let us consider the scriptures, 2 Corinthians 2:14 AMPC – But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere.

We see something very interesting above: “who in Christ always leads us in triumph.” This means that the very first prerequisite to being perpetually triumphant is to be IN CHRIST. The very next thing is to BE LED. Being led is our focus for today. Of course, we see in that verse that it is Christ who leads us. Imagine we do not take directions or leadings from Christ. We would only be setting ourselves up. Getting directions from Christ and not relying on our own wisdom is very essential.

Going further, recall Romans 8:14. It says, For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. As sons of God, living habitually, in constant response to and guided by the Holy Spirit within us is very essential in winning. When we live this way with our focus (eyes and ears open to listen and obey), we are assured of victory always. Yes! Because we are not confused, we are set apart from the world to exude God’s glory, we know the right steps to take, we know how to carry out the actions leading up to victory.

Much more, even when storms brew or challenges come, we are not fazed because we are led by God who has already overcome these troubles. All we need to do is look within and get directions. John 16:33 AMPC buttresses this; I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] What an amazing reality we can bank on anytime any day!

Finally, Pastor Binuyo ‘Tomiwa’s words in the last Global Online Service remain true; the Lord is not on the side of that situation (no matter how big it looks), He is on your side, holding you steady, with His hands raised in victory (Isaiah 41:10, Psalm 118:16).

Beloved, as you conclude this blog, make up your mind to live a life full of, controlled, animated, and led by the spirit of God. That is the only way we can experience a perpetually victorious life.
