It’s our month of confident reliance and this reliance is in God alone! You trust Him to attend to all your needs. Much more, you trust him to bring to pass all that he has promised you.

Exodus 14:14 AMPC says– The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest. Our man of God explains further to say: “when we rest, God works but when we work, God rests”. Similarly, you can not have two drivers behind the wheel. That would breed confusion, chaos and ultimately, lead to an accident. Most likely, why our God is a jealous God and would rather just stick to being a solo driver.

The main point however is to run away from self-reliance. Thinking you can achieve anything in your own power. Thinking you are self-sufficient. Thinking it’s all your effort that counts. You must run away from these kinds of thoughts. Trusting in your abilities or your resources is a recipe for failure. You must always acknowledge one simple fact in Proverbs 16:33. MSG version says Make your motions and cast your votes, but God has the final say.

Since God has the final say, a wise man would totally rely on Him, ALWAYS!
Psalm 23 says the Lord is my shepherd. A shepherd ensures that you are fed, guided, and shielded.
Jeremiah 29 says the plans God has for us are of good, not of evil to give you an expected end.
These ever-present reassuring promises are just a tiny drop in the ocean of the many beautiful pledges God has made to us. They are the basis on which to ultimately rely and trust God wholeheartedly.

Pastor admonished us by saying, “would the thoughts (of fear, or of self-reliance) not come? they would. But you must consciously not allow them to settle down in your heart.” This is the same as running away from self-reliance. Always remind yourself that God is at work in you, that God has the final say, that God is in charge, and that he would forever be a loving, faithful shepherd to you.
Let’s end with this scripture:

Isaiah 26: 3-4 “You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages].”

Our major duty in achieving fruitfulness is to wholly rely on and trust in God. It is also to take mercy and accept the help.
We do this through God-reliance, not self-reliance.
Say NO to self-reliance!!
