COURAGE IN THE MIDST OF IT ALL

Picture this: two fighters going against each other, with one looking physically smaller while the other possesses a bigger physical build. Although both have given themselves to training, only the smaller-looking fighter has been training all his life with the best coach in the world. Now, how would you show support to the smaller-looking fighter who begins to fidget just because he thinks he is at a disadvantage because of his body build?

Of course, this challenge is real, but the smaller-looking one has more years of practice and more experience. One way to show support would be by reminding him of his years worth of training, and especially who his trainer is. You would show support by cheering him on to be strong and courageous. This courage is our focus for today.

What is courage? “Courage is being confident. It is not being afraid, but taking charge even in a dangerous situation.” Pastor Binuyo Olutomiwa.

Consider Psalms 27:3 MSG: “When besieged, I’m calm as a baby. When all hell breaks loose, I’m collected and cool.”

This is a perfect example of courage! Being cool, calm, and collected even in the face of trials and tribulations.

Still, being this courageous in all situations would not be possible if you are not spiritual or conscious of God. In order to be courageous, you must ensure Christ remains in your consciousness at all times.

Joshua 1:7-8 (NIV) explains clearly, “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Notice how the passage goes from instructing you to be courageous, then moves on to instructions of consciousness, before ending with God’s promise of prosperity and success. Being conscious of your identity, God’s promises, and His Spirit within you is a key ingredient in remaining courageous through life.

Beloved, although the world can look bigger physically, greater is He that is in you, and this greater one never sleeps nor slumbers; He doesn’t take a break, and He never loses.

Guess what? He has promised you that same victory (Psalm 118:14), joy (John 16:33), peace (John 14:27), help (Hebrews 4:16), and presence (Isaiah 41:10). All that you need to do is be very COURAGEOUS!
